Our Hearing Loop is Here!

After many months of discerning, planning, furniture moving and multiple rounds of installation work, our new hearing loop is finally fully installed and is up and running! We will be refining the sound levels in the coming weeks, but are delighted that it is working well. The system is made up of an array of loops of copper wires that were installed under our new carpet which translate the sound gathered through our microphones and then broadcast it directly to individual people, making it easier to hear the service.

If you have a hearing impairment, there are two ways you can use the hearing loop during worship. First, if you use a hearing aid that has a T-Coil, simply enable your T-coil setting, and the sound of worship will be sent directly to your hearing aid. If you do not have a T-Coil in your hearing aid, or if you do not use hearing aids, we have head sets available for your use. Look for them on a table near the main glass doors. Simply hang the lanyard around your neck (it needs to be vertical for the internal antenna to work) and put on the headphones. Then turn the dial — you should see a green light come on — and you can adjust the volume level with the same nob. As you try them out, please give Rev. Liz feedback about your experience, so we can work to keep improving the settings of the system! And again, many, many thanks to those who generously helped make this improved accessibility possible.
