Pride — now, and all year round!

Beloveds, 

June is nearly upon us, and with it, many ways to celebrate Pride. At Church of the Resurrection and in the Episcopal Church more broadly, we hold inclusion as central to who we are as a community, every month, all year long. And, it is wonderful to have these opportunities to celebrate this with the wider community in a clear, visible, and festive way! For the last four years, our Vestry has named expanding and making more explicit our welcome of the LGBTQ+ community as one of our core priorities as a parish. This is rooted in our understanding that we are ALL made in God’s image, and that as our former presiding bishop Michael Curry so often said, “if it’s not about love, it’s not about God!” What a joy to give witness to the breadth of love, and celebrate all the many ways that our human diversity reflects the goodness of God. It also feels important to lift up these celebrations, given the ways that many of our LGBTQ+ kin are facing persecution, threats, and in some cases violence these days. Showing up for one another is always important, and right now making our love visible is especially needed. Come be the beautiful Body of Christ together!
