Annual Meeting, with Proposed Amended Bylaws

Dear friends in Christ,

Our Annual Meeting of Church of the Resurrection will be held next Sunday, January 25, 2026 at 11:30 am.

At this meeting, members of the parish will be asked to vote on Amended and Restated Bylaws for the Parish. The intent of the updated bylaws is to ensure that the bylaws conform to the Constitution and Canons of the Episcopal Church as well as California Corporate law. Changes were also necessary to address growth in the Parish. Additionally, our goals were to further enshrine democracy in the practices of the parish, and to make the traditions of the parish more transparent and accessible to new members by formally recording them.

Because you will be asked to vote on these proposed bylaws, we wanted to give everyone time to familiarize yourself with them, as well as have a chance to ask questions if you wish. A full draft of the proposed bylaws is available here. You can read a summary of the proposed changes here.

On Tuesday, January 20th at 7pm, Tom Chaffee, Rev. Whitney and I will be hosting a Zoom call to answer any questions you might have before the Annual Meeting.

The Zoom info is:

To be eligible to vote, one must be at least 16 years old and have been registered as a member of the parish for at least six months.

In addition to voting on the proposed bylaws at our Annual Meeting, we will also elect new vestry members and delegates to our diocesan convention. Lay leaders and staff will offer reports on the last year, and we’ll hear a financial update from our treasurer. We’ll share snippets of what was happening here 25 and 50 years ago, and perhaps most importantly, we will thank leaders for their generous service here. A light lunch will be served.

Thank you for joining in this important work of guiding our parish for the years ahead!

Love,

Liz+
