Black Liberation Walking Tour — join us!

This Saturday a group of us are heading to Oakland for the Black Liberation Walking Tour, and there’s still a few more spaces for folks who would like to join!

As part of our Beyond Sacred Ground program, we are participating in this project of the West Oakland Cultural Network. The tour will take place from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on August 8. The BLWT kicks off at the former St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church, now St. Andrews Missionary Baptist Church, located at 2624 West Street, in West Oakland. The tour captures oral histories to document the lives, art, and the culture of long-time residents, historical figures, and rapidly disappearing former Black cultural spaces in the iconic Hoover-Foster community. The cost is $45 and checks can be made out to “Church of the Resurrection.” If all spots are full, please reach out to Amanda Szakats, Phil Matthews, or Natasha Paul as we might be able to add a few more spots.
