Company while life is hard
When life throws you a curveball, it can be really important to have someone to walk alongside you for a while. Sometimes this person comes in the form of a friend, a relative, or a therapist, and these are all good. And, we’re grateful that we have another sort of companion we can offer you through Church of the Resurrection: a Stephen Minister.
Stephen Ministers are members of our church who have gone through extensive training to prepare to support people in all kinds of tough situations. They get paired one-on-one with members who are experiencing a difficult season like an illness, the death of a loved one, job uncertainty, or other kinds of upheaval. People generally meet with their Stephen Minister once a week for an hour to talk, reflect, and if they wish, pray together. The Stephen Minister is not there to fix anything, but instead to listen, to support, and to be a holy companion. Everything shared is held in confidence.
