Facilities & Accessibility

We are grateful to have a spacious sanctuary, comfortable parish hall, and outdoor patio. These spaces are our shared home as a congregation, and we are glad to share them with our neighbors. If you’d like to explore renting the sanctuary, parish hall or outdoor grounds for celebrations, meetings, or other gatherings, please contact our office.

Our sanctuary and parish hall are both accessible for people using wheelchairs or with other mobility needs. Our sanctuary has chairs rather than pews, and they do not have arms. We can easily rearrange chairs to help you be more comfortable in the space, and are happy to do so; please let the office know what you need.

Most of our bathrooms are set up to be used by one person at a time. Our sanctuary has a hearing loop to support people with a hearing impairment during worship.

Our sanctuary has a hearing loop to support people with a hearing impairment during worship. If you use a hearing aid that has a T-Coil, simply enable your T-coil setting, and the sound of worship will be sent directly to your hearing aid. If you do not have a T-Coil in your hearing aid, or if you do not use hearing aids, we have head sets available for your use. Look for them on a table near the main glass doors. Just hang the lanyard around your neck (it needs to be vertical for the internal antenna to work) and put on the headphones. Then turn the dial — you should see a green light come on — and you can adjust the volume level with the same nob.

The Church Building was designed by the architectural firm of Ratcliff, Slama & Cadwalader and is noted for the bell-curved vault of its wood-paneled sanctuary formed of free-span laminated beams. It is reminiscent of architect Bernard Maybeck’s Hearst Hall (1899) on the University of California Berkeley campus which unfortunately burned down in 1922.

The primary use of the Church Building is for worship, weddings, concerts, plays, and memorial services. However, the movable chairs allow for different configurations or the elimination of all chairs for events such as Vacation Bible Camp and large parish dinners.

Also located in the Church Building are the sacristy, nursery, restrooms, church offices, and the narthex.

The Parish Hall building was completed in 2003. There are three meeting rooms: the Parish Hall, the Plaza Room and the Redwood Room. There is a kitchen, rest rooms, and a storage closet. These rooms are used for Sunday School classes, adult formation classes, receptions after weddings and funerals, AA meetings, and other gatherings. It is also used for smaller parish dinners and Sunday morning coffee hours depending on the weather. It is also used to house unhoused families with the Warm Winter Nights Shelter for two weeks each year.

Center of Gravity, a local STEM-based school, offering preschool, transitional kindergarten, and kindergarten shares our facility. We are delighted to get to share our campus with such wonderful neighbors!

At Church of the Resurrection, our sacred space is located outside our sanctuary walls just as much as inside them! Neighbors are most welcome to come enjoy the grounds — folks often walk their dogs through the orchard, swing by on a lunch break to walk our outdoor labyrinth, catch up with a friend or savor a few minutes of silence on one of our shady benches, or quite literally stop to smell the roses.
