Winter Nights – Family Shelter
Winter Nights is a seasonal family shelter serving at congregations in Central and East Contra Costa. The collaborative effort protects unhoused families by providing shelter in a clean, safe, and warm environment and help families break the homelessness cycle by assisting them toward self-sufficiency and into stable housing. The program runs from October to mid-June of each year, usually for 36 weeks. Many congregations provide shelter, food, and volunteers for homeless families with minor children. Every year, usually in the late fall Church of the Resurrection hosts Winter Nights for two consecutive weeks. Together, we pitch in to cook meals, offer tutoring and fun for the kids and extra support, comfort and love for the parents. There are many ways to support this great program — contact Jenelle Towle to learn more.
