Advent 2024
Advent Festival: On December 1st, we will be celebrating the beginning of Advent with our Advent Festival after the 10:15am services. Come and make Advent wreaths and other items to help you enter into this season of Emmanuel (God is with us). We'll be on the plaza if it's nice out, and in the parish hall if it's rainy.
Adult Formation: December 1, 18, 15, and 22nd at 9am in the parish hall.
How does a weary world rejoice?
I would guess soul by soul
and day by day.
But if you ask me,
I bet most of it counts.
--Sarah Speed
This Advent, we are going to ask ourselves: How does a weary world rejoice? With a statement inspired by scripture, we enter a space of possibility and rhythms for rejoicing. Each weekly sub-theme is a “we” statement because joy is deeply relational and rooted in the fact that we belong to God.
St. Nicholas Visit: On December 8th, St. Nicholas will be visiting to pass out his special cookies after the 8am and 10:15am services.
Gingerbread Nativity Scenes for Middle Schoolers: On December 8th, youth in 6th - 8th grade are invited to meet right after the 10:15am service (leaving after communion) and make nativity scenes out of gingerbread graham crackers. Come and join in the fun!
Blue Christmas: December 17th at 7pm. If Christmas is a time for loneliness or loss for you, join us for this contemplative service as we name what hurts and draw close to the quiet promises of Christmas.
Greening of the Church: Sunday December 22nd: Each year, we transition from the Advent season to the Christmas season by "greening" the church in which we add wreaths and swags to our sanctuary to decorate for Christmas services. All are invited to help decorate our sanctuary after the 10:15am service.
Christmas Worship:
- Christmas Eve at 4 pm: worship with pageant (all kids welcome to join!), carols, and communion
- Christmas Eve at 10 pm: worship with choir, sermon, and communion
- Christmas Day at 10:15 am: worship with carols, sermon and communion
