Healing Prayer Ministry
We have commissioned a team of trained Healing Team Ministers to be channels of God’s healing love, and offer prayers at the Healing Station by the Tree of Life mosaic. We have been moved and encouraged by those who have taken advantage of this offering. For some of you this this may be a new ministry and even a new idea, so we thought it might be helpful to try to answer a few frequently asked questions!
Why might I go there?
Anyone who would like prayers for healing for themself or a loved one might go.
Does the need for healing have to be physical?
Healing prayers are for body, mind, and spirit. Sometimes we want prayers for a broken relationship, a broken promise, a broken system, or a broken spirit.
When do I go there?
For those who attend the 8 am service, it makes the most sense to go after receiving communion.
For those who attend the 10:15 service, you may go either before or after receiving communion, based on where you are sitting or what feels “right” to you.
What if I can’t kneel comfortably, or at all?
Then you can stand or sit. There is no position or posture that is inappropriate.
What happens over there?
We will place our hands on your head or shoulder or hands, anoint you with oil and say prayers.
What if I do not know how to name what is wrong or unwell?
Particulars are not necessary or required unless you wish to share them. God knows them and us.
What is asked for in the prayers?
The main purpose of any prayer is to align ourselves with the will of God. God loves us and wills health and wholeness for us. However, we also know that we live in a fallen world and there is brokenness in us and around us. At the healing station we can name the brokenness and put it before God. How we are healed and when we are healed remains full of mystery and grace.
What if I came for prayers last week, can I come again?
Absolutely! There is no such thing as asking for prayers too often.
What if I don’t want my situation to be widely known?
All exchanges at the healing station are confidential. What is said remains in that sacred space. If you want to follow up later that is your choice, and if you want a member of the clergy to follow up with you, please let us know.
What if I have a questions not covered here?
Please feel invited to voice other questions you may have! One of the clergy or a member of the healing team will be happy to talk with you.
